NEW DELHI: Kedar Jhadav, who was selected to India's ODI squad for the three matches against New Zealand, told TOI on Saturday that he has been rewarded for his consistency in limited overs cricket and expected being named in the squad.
"I did well during India A's tour of Australia. We won the series there. I have been performing well in the limited overs format for the last three years, be it for India A, in the
Indian Premier League or when I last played for India in Zimbabwe.
I have performed everywhere. I have been rewarded for my consistency in the shorter format. Though, I am a tad disappointed that I could not convert these two fifty's (against Jharkhand) into hundreds," Jhadav said.
Jhadav added he is looking forward to face the Kiwi pacers. "I love playing in ODIs and T20s. White-ball cricket is a good opportunity to bat and score runs. I am willing to play at any position the team wants me to"
Asked if being part of the Test squad is his next goal, he said, "It's up to the selectors to pick me for Tests. All I can do is perform well."
Take neutral venues as a challenge: AaronJharkhand skipper
Varun Aaron feels
Ranji Trophy teams must accept the challenge of playing at neutral venues and even back the initiative.
"Everybody has to back the concept of neutral venues. Teams need to take it as a challenge. You never get to choose your venue in international matches. In a way, it's good. I am not really bothered about losing the home advantage. We have a good team. We never really relied only on spinners or fast bowlers. It's not much of a concern. I don't really see it as a concern," Aaron told TOI on Thursday.
Aaron, who has been troubled by injuries in the past, said pace is something he isn't willing to compromise on.
"I am not going to compromise on pace. I feel I have a gift so it's better to use it. Bowling is a continuous process. It's not just about pace or swing or just control. At a good level, you need to have all the three to be a good fast bowler," said Aaron, who tested the Maharashtra batsmen with his pace and reverse swing in both the innings.
So, is he targeting the last two ODI's against New Zealand?
"Selection is completely in the hands of selectors. I am not thinking about it now. My focus is on my performance."
